At the Probus Club’s August meeting Dianne Allitt retold the story of how and why The Last Post poem was put to music.Today, everyone knows the music which is played at military funerals and on Anzac Day.

The music came about when American Union Army Captain Robert Ellicombe heard the moans of an injured soldier.

Preschoolers meet next year’s teachers

The preschool afternoons were busy during Term 3 with many visitors. Primary school teachers were invited to join the preschoolers on several occasions for lunch and activities. The sessions gave the preschoolers and primary school teachers an opportunity to get to know each other before the pre-schoolers begin kindergarten in 2016. To build strong and open relationships that will support the preschoolers’ transition from preschool to primary school, families were also invited to join in the activities and meet the teach-ers.
