Henty Bowling Club

Henty Bowling Club

The Bowling Club has undergone several improvements in the past decade but none as dramatic as the changes that followed the decision to combine the clubhouse with a new civic centre to replace the crumbling Memorial Hall.

More specific to the club has been a new greenkeeper's shed and a high-tech watering system. As part of the latter, a 22,000-litre water tank was installed in 2007 to collect water from the clubhouse-civic centre roof. This was followed in 2008 by a computer controlled watering system that allowed for irrigation at night, reducing evaporation and thus water use. Both the water tank and the water system were backed with federal grants.

The new shed was larger than the one it replaced, accommodating the new pumping equipment and control panel and having space for golf buggies when required. The shed cost the club $32,000. Inside the clubhouse, new honour boards were commissioned in 2010.                                                                                                                         We boast two greens the envy of many who visit and play the game, courtesy of volunteer greenkeeper, retired farmer Bruce Diffey and his assistant Graham Scholz.

Paving was carried out on northern & southern ends of both greens, hand rails installed and currently work is in progress putting backs on the seating and upgrading our sunshades to make life more comfortable for our bowlers.
